Biosystems Engineers…
- Improve the sustainability of production systems, reduce or eliminate environmental hazards, and preserve natural resources
- Devise practical, efficient solutions for producing, storing, transporting, processing, and packaging biological and agricultural products
- Solve problems related to systems, processes, and machines that interact with humans, plants, animals, microorganisms, and biological materials
- Develop responsible, innovative uses for biological products, byproducts, and wastes, as well as natural resources like soil, water, air, and energy

Undergraduate Program
The University of Kentucky is the only college in Kentucky that offers Biosystems Engineering as an undergraduate major. The Biosystems Engineering program includes more specialty areas than other similar departments across the country too.

Graduate Program
Graduates can pursue careers as researchers, agricultural technology developers, or university professors, focusing on areas such as precision agriculture, bioresource engineering, and sustainable food production systems.

Certificates and Minors
If you’re interested in adding specialized knowledge to the degree you're seeking, our certification and minor programs provide the perfect opportunity to turn employers' heads your way.
