Graduating engineering and computer science seniors and graduate students are invited to the Induction into the Profession Ceremony.
The ceremony will be held on Saturday, May 5, 2018 at the Singletary Center for the Arts. Students will arrive at 8:30 a.m. and the program will begin at 9:00 a.m. Brunch at the Hilary J. Boone Center will immediately follow the conclusion of the program.
The induction ceremony will feature the “Order of the Engineer” and “The Pledge of the Computing Professional.” The Induction into the Profession initiation includes all engineering majors and has no continuing membership fees. Students take an oath similar to the Hippocratic Oath taken by medical doctors. Each new member receives a certificate and a stainless steel ring to be worn on the little finger of the working hand or for computer science majors an ASCII lapel pin, both of which will be presented by Interim Dean Larry Holloway.
Students, excluding computer science majors, will have their finger sized for the ring at the James and Gay Hardymon Center for Student Success, room 355K.
Cost is $10 for the induction ceremony for the student only and $10 per guest for brunch (no cost to student). Online registration is required; visit www.ukalumni.net/engineeringinduction18.
The deadline to register is April 28.
